What we do

The Safety Spotlight

The Safety Spotlight is a free monthly publication that keeps you close to what is happening across the violence, abuse and harm sector. Think of it as a knowledgeable colleague who has done the reading so you don't have to, pulling together the policy announcements, legislation and research that matter each month, and translating a busy policy landscape into something you can actually use. But it is more than an update. It is a space where conversations that matter get started, where we share our latest thinking and resources, and where your voice is central to shaping the direction of the field. Subscribers hear about our work first and are the first to be asked.

We exist because:‍ ‍

Everyone has the right to safety from violence, abuse, and harm, and the people and systems creating change deserve to be empowered to make it happen.

We will make that a reality by:‍ ‍

Partnering with people and organisations to reduce violence, abuse, and harm. By simplifying complex challenges, building bridges across sectors, and helping frontline workers, organisations, and systems turn evidence into meaningful action. Rooted in care, lived experience, and curiosity, we bring our whole selves to everything we do, strengthening the people, partnerships, and places working for lasting change.

Creating the conditions for lasting change

Our safer systems framework™

We know that real, lasting change doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why we take a systems-thinking approach to preventing violence, abuse, and harm, working across the people, the systems, and the evidence that drive change.

Our Safer Systems Framework™ reflects how social change happens when these three forces work in synergy:

  • The People: individuals, professionals, and communities

  • The Structures: services, policies and processes

  • The Evidence: research, lived experience, and data

At the intersections of these pillars, we see the conditions for change begin to take shape, through behavioural, systemic, and cultural shifts. These ripple effects, when nurtured intentionally, can build safer, more responsive systems.

We focus our work:

  • Within the pillars: strengthening each foundation

  • At the intersections: building bridges between people, systems and evidence

  • Across the whole system: supporting long-term, sustainable change

Our goal is to support people and organisations to navigate complexity, turn insight into action, and build the foundations for safer lives, because everyone has the right to live free from violence, abuse, and harm.
